Experimental Study on the Resistance and Splash Performances of Water Collecting Devices for Mechanical Draft Cooling Towers

In recent years, water collecting systems, with the associated advantages of energy saving and noise reduction, have become foundation for development a scheme to optimize structure cooling towers. To explore feasibility this approach mechanical draft towers, small-scale experimental device has been built study resistance splash performances three U-type devices (WCDs) different flow rates wind speeds. The results show that within considered ranges speed rate, pressure drop WCDs can vary significantly. local also be remarkably different. Some recommendations about most suitable system are provided.
